Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil is a light yellow, plant-based oil extracted from the seeds of the sunflower plant. Due to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids, it is considered a healthy oil alternative and is widely used, particularly in the food industry.

Sunflower oil is used in a variety of applications, primarily in cooking.

1. Food Industry: The Most Common Use

Sunflower oil is one of the most preferred vegetable oils for cooking thanks to its mild flavor, high smoke point, and healthy fat profile. In Turkey, it is widely used in both household kitchens and industrial food production.

Main uses in the food sector:
✔ Cooking and frying
✔ Margarine and mayonnaise production
✔ Canned foods and ready-made meals
✔ Snacks and baked goods

Thanks to its high oleic acid content, sunflower oil is considered heart-friendly. Since it contains no trans fats, it is also an important component of healthy nutrition.

2. Cosmetics and Personal Care Products

Sunflower oil is also valued in the cosmetics industry due to its richness in vitamin E. It is used as a moisturizer in skin care products and natural soaps.

Examples of cosmetic and personal care products that contain sunflower oil:
✔ Skin moisturizers and lotions
✔ Natural soaps and shampoos
✔ Baby care products

3. Biodiesel and Industrial Use

In recent years, growing interest in environmentally friendly energy sources has led to the use of sunflower oil in biodiesel production.

In addition, sunflower oil is used in the paint and varnish industries due to its natural solvent properties, making it a preferred option in various industrial applications.
